Introduction

At the bottom of this plain, we can see the tree that has mostly replaced the original forests of these places. The red pine, for reforestation and wood use, it has occupied the terrain of the original wet oak groves. You will easily identify it by seeing the upper half of the trunk with this orange color (photo).

We continue to find streams of fir trees and some ornamental oak trees with large leaves and beautiful autumn colors: the American oak.

The large fern that we will find under the oaks is typical of the Cantabrian cornice: “Aquilina” fern. In summer, it is green and in winter it dries out. To the north, it is used to make beds and feed the cattle.
