Description

Opened on September 1st, 1935 with a background that was made up of contemporary paintings, sculptures and drawings, as well as the archaeological findings from the Roman villa of the almond trees discovered by Dr. Ignasi Melé in 1914.

The museum was created in order to gather the testimonials of both national and international artists who had made Tossa a source of inspiration for their work.

In January 1966 the Diputació de Barcelona made the transfer of the museum to the City Council of Tossa de Mar, giving the totality of the fund. Upon that moment, the museum became "Museu Municipal de Tossa".
