Introduction

Falco tinnunculus

This diurnal bird of prey from the falcon family is fairly common and easy to identify thanks to the distinctive way its flies when hunting. It can hover in the air, quickly flapping its wings and looking for the movement of its prey on the ground.

It lives in open areas, taking advantage of cliffs and areas of sparse woodland, and it feeds on small mammals such as mice and shrews as well as large insects, reptiles and small birds.
