Introduction
We arrive to the mouth of the river that we have resumed throughout the journey. The Ridaura is born in Santa Cristina d'Aro, in the massif of Ardenya and dies in Platja Gran. Only when the river is full, after heavy rain, the water breaks the sand barrier, and goes out into the sea. As the force of the river decreases, the sand holds its neck again and the mouth becomes a coastal wetland. Between the reed (Phragmites australis), in the water, or on the muddy edges, we can observe many bird species: ducks, snakes, water chicks, hammocks, broomsticks, swans and the spectacular common kingfisher.
