Remains of dry stone walls

Index card

Introduction

Specifically in this short stretch, just when the descent towards the Els Abaus stream begins, you can clearly see the remains of dry stone walls on the slope to the left of the path. These remains are, as long as they last or until some caring soul sets to work to restore them, a remnant of popular memory of an ancestral technique whose durability has been more than demonstrated throughout the whole country. Stone on stone, strategically placed, according to the laws of gravity, weights and inclinations, they have been able to carry out in perfect conditions their main initial function: the support of the most exposed banks  of the roads and of the terraces in the reduced vineyards and other dry land trees.
