Introduction

Under the underside of this stretch the common box (Buxus sempervirens) dominates. We find it on the margin of the path, sometimes in a forceful way. If we find a window, we may see the town of Queralbs, also on the other side of the valley.

This persistent leafy and slow growth plant, adapts well to many climatic conditions and ground depths. Mainly in calcareous areas. Its yellow wood, dense and very soft to the touch, has been used for household utensils such as spoons, bowls, boxes and other decorative elements with engravings. Nowadays it is used in commercial pharmaceutical preparations for rheumatism and some bile diseases.
