Introduction
In the middle of the maritime pine wood, at the bottom of a gully in the dune, is the fountain of en Reixaquet. The fountain is a curious dry stone structure which delves into the ground in search of water. A dozen limestone steps descend the narrow space between two walls to the well where the water flows. Next to the fountain, some garden species are planted such as a horse chestnut (Aesculus hippocastanum). This is a deciduous tree originating from the Balkans. It has palmate leaves and produces fruit which resembles chestnuts (Castanea sativa). However, these conkers are not edible.
