Introduction
Climbing along the Costa path, we must mention the heather. Notice here the large patch of this shrub that extends down in the shade opposite the abandoned farms of Can Causà to the left (Can Causà plain) and dels Arbres right in front.
Over the Can Causà plain we can see the Puig de l'Àliga. Behind the farmhouses, towards the north, rise the Serra de Rodes and the Serra de la Verdera which descend to the bay of Sant Pere de Rodes. Again, there is the eastern Pyrenees, now though to the opposite end of the Serra de l’Albera.
The shrubs along the path are arboreal heather. Tall, small leafed and deciduous, these are the transition vegetation to a future holm oak forest due to the fact that, in their shade it is difficult for other plants to grow.
