Introduction
The white pines start to disappear and we now pass through a section of the forest where pine trees and heather undergrowth prevail. The pine trees, planted due to the quality of their wood, were used in construction and particularly to obtain pine cones and their pine nuts. It adapts very well to fine, sandy soil. Better than acid soil. It cannot withstand frequent, bad frosts. It likes the light and needs space for the development of a high (30m), umbrella-shaped top. The trunk is often straight, thick and with large, reddish scales.
