PINS DEL BISBE
These forests are formed mainly by cork oak, white pine, and pine wood, thermophilic species. As bushes; the heather, the cherry tree and the pistacia lentiscus, all of them adapted to the siliceous lands, predominate.
To the right there is an area that since ancient times has been populated by pines in an area where mainland predominates.
The cork oaks are endemic to the western Mediterranean basin and it has always been used for its cork (especially since the 18th century), the fruits for cattle, and its dense and water-resistant wood.
In the province of Girona there are 4/5 of the overall number of cork oaks in Catalonia.
