Introduction
Right opposite to us we have the roof of the refuge of the Costabona. |
From here you can see all the ridge we have climbed up. If you continue down the ridge you will arrive to the Fonda hill, where we left the car. Further down we have the Collada Verda and the Puig Sistra (1,990m) and, further down, the Puig de les Agudes (1,976m) just above Setcases. Between the two hills, cross the GR 11 that goes from Molló to Setcases. |
It is not difficult to see chamois in groups. The chamois has fine hooked-shaped horns that never fall to him. It seems that they wear a mask on their face, something more evident with the winter coat. Males and females are hard to differentiate but a good observer is able to differentiate them by the morphology of horns. |
In summer we find it in alpine meadows while in winter it goes down to alternate forest areas with meadows and sloping areas where it accumulates less snow and can find food more easily. Form flocks that vary depending on age, sex of individuals and the time of year. |
Gestation lasts for 6 months. They usually have a baby, between May and June that accompanies the mother throughout the first year of life. They live between 18-22 years. |
