Introduction
Great!! You are already at the top. Now enjoy the views. |
Declared in the year 2015, it shares part of the territory with the National Reserve of Hunting of the Freser-Setcases and limits, to the north, with the regional natural park of the Catalan Pyrenees located in France. |
It is located in the eastern Pyrenees, entirely within the Ripollès region, and has an area of more than 14,500 hectares spread across 7 municipalities. With peaks that reach almost 3,000 m (Puigmal 2910 m, Bastimenti 2881 m), it defines a unique natural space, the last typical example of the high Pyrenean mountain that descends towards the Mediterranean. It includes the headwaters of the Ter, Freser, and the north of the Ritort and Rigat valleys, |
It is a compendium and an excellent example of the remarkable degree of diversity that welcomes the eastern Pyrenees. It presents good examples of the pyrennean glacial and periglacial modeling with very complex forms and is unique because it contains delicate vertebrate species, as well as numerous invertebrates of great interest and a rich and diverse mountain flora, such as alpine bats, or flora such as alpine poppy (Papaver alpinum) or white grass (Senecio leucophyllus) |
The Pyrenees is a mountain range formed during alpine orogeny, which began during the Cretaceous (late Mesozoic) more than 80 million years ago. The shock of the Iberian and Eurasian tectonic plates caused the lifting and stacking of the rocks that were in between the two plates. |
After enjoying the scenery, if you look at the stones, you will find a beautiful small crustacean plant, typical of stonemasons and stalls, of the matafocs family. (foto) |
