Ermita de Santa Elena

Index card

Introduction

This is a late Gothic-style hermitage located in the neighborhood of Agell, first documented in 1236. Originally dedicated to Santa Maria, the hermitage's current construction dates back to around 1576. The reconstruction was required due to the building's deteriorated state. The facade showcases a door with half-point voussoirs and stone-framed windows, complemented by a bell gable. The building consists of a single rectangular nave with ogival arches and a polygonal apse. The keystone vaults depict the figure of Santa Helena holding a book and a cross, accompanied by a goat, possibly associated with the Cabrera coat of arms.
