Masia Cal Frares

Index card

Introduction

The farmhouse, documented in 1235 as the property of the Arnó family, evolved in the 17th century to become the Benedictine convent of Cals Frares. Later, after the “desamortización” of ecclesiastical assets by Mendizábal in 1837, it passed into the hands of the Gallemí family, marked by the keystone inscribed "Jaume Gallemí 1843". In the 20th century, it became the Torre Ametller farmhouse, owned by the chocolatiers Ametller. Currently, it is used for restoration and agriculture, featuring a cellar with barrels and a press from 1802. The main facade reflects the reforms of the 17th and 18th centuries.
