Introduction
Contrary to what is believed, the name of the Rupit’s Cross (Creu de Rupit) refers to a crossroad. It's an old word like others here in the Maresme: Collsacreu, La Creueta, La Creu de Canet. All of them refer to points where paths are created.
Geographically, it is the neck that separates the basins of the rivers Sobirans and Canyamars, an important crossroad that leads to different places of the Vallès and the Maresme. However, at this point in Rupit there has always been a cross, it is an emblematic element that constitutes a milestone in the landscape of the Rupit environment.
The landscape here combines open spaces, such as the Rupit plain, with pine forest, oaks and cork oaks.
