Introduction

Farmhouse of the XVI century, also known as Can Pasqual. On the facade of the tower, the loopholes are distinguished, and on the lower window you can see a stone with a picture of the primitive farmhouse (look at it closely, it is covered by a vineyard).

The origin of the defense towers of Maresme’s coast is found in the attacks by pirates, the raids. The goal was to steal, kidnap and seek rescue. The best paid treasures were people, for which expensive rescues were requested.

The purpose of the tower was to make a good defense from its interior, and to withstand a few hours of protection (time in which the people of the town took when organizing a battle of protection to the besieged farmhouse). By not having flat-bottom access, or windows, they were difficult to conquer. The gaps, these openings on the facade, served to shoot and keep the enemy at bay.

Over time, when the towers lost their utility they became part of the main building, giving it a statelier touch. Even the inhabitants added themselves to the surname "de la torre", having a tower, at home or in the surname, made them more distinguished.
