Pinus pinastre
On this side of the mountain there are several pine species that can be found, such as the white pine, the pine and maritime pine, predominating the forest where we are. It is a forest replanted in an area where in the past dominated the vine.
The maritime pine is within our home pines, the fastest growing, which makes it one of the most commonly used species for reforestation. Its wood is not especially appreciated and it is reserved for planks, railway sleepers and packing boxes. Cones are on the other hand appreciated to light up fire and popularly known as "cones to light fire" Another utility of this tree is getting turpentine or white spirit, which is extracted by deep vertical incisions in the bark. The turpentine has many applications in the chemical industry, varnishes and in perfumery.
