Introduction

Martes foina

We now walk under the balma of the castle and find a trail of excrement from one of the inhabitants of this area, the fagina or gorjablanc (photo). The Fagina defecates in visible places, such as stones on paths, in order to mark territory.
This mammal of the mustelid family has mainly crepuscular and nocturnal habits, which makes it very difficult to see. It moves by making small jumps and is a good climber.

It usually feeds on hares, rabbits, birds, eggs, squirrels, rats, fruit and honey.
