The hedgerow

Index card

Introduction

There are stretches of the path where the roadside vegetation is abundant. Here there is a hedgerow of brambles with shrubby willows (gatells) and elm shoots. Altogether, this forms an area of high biodiversity value, providing shelter and food for many small birds and mammals.

In the uncultivated inland plots, wildlife quickly takes hold. During our visit we observed large groups of cattle egrets, little egrets and western cattle egrets feeding.
