Water conduits

Introduction

The Llobregat delta has an extensive network of different types of water conduits used to manage water resources. These include corredoras and canals such as the one along the camí de Cal Francès.

There is a drainage network for rainwater in the agricultural area that prevents flooding of the fields. Small channels known as “valls” run from the agricultural plots and connect to larger channels called “corredoras”, which carry rainwater towards the coastal lagoons, from where it flows into the sea.

Other, better-built channels form an irrigation network dating back to the last quarter of the 19th century, originating in the Canal de la Dreta del Llobregat. This canal draws water from the river at Sant Vicenç dels Horts and distributes it across part of the Parc Agrari.

This infrastructure has been managed since its origins by the Comunitat de Regants del Canal de la Dreta del Llobregat.
