Introduction

The butterfly meadow of Mas Ratés has a new design with flowering plants, intended to encourage the growth of three specific butterfly species.

There is an insect hotel with materials (wood, clay) and spaces (holes) where insects can lay eggs and their larvae can develop into adults: beetles, solitary bees, ladybirds, spiders, earwigs…

The amphibian pond, with plants such as cattail and reed and the presence of permanent water, improves biodiversity while also serving to monitor environmental quality. Dragonflies, frogs and toads use the water to complete their life cycle.

These spaces at Mas Ratés are also ideal for schools to teach biology to students in a practical way.
