Introduction

The origin of this green lung for the city is relatively recent: in the early 1990s, a civic need was addressed and the most degraded areas of the foothills of the serra de Miramar were reforested with pines. Today it has become a forested area with woods of Aleppo pine, stone pine and holm oaks in the bottoms of the Ginestar and Mas Ratés torrents.

The diversity of environments in the park (forest, meadows, scrubland, torrents…) offers high biodiversity, both plant and animal, with insects and birds being the easiest to observe.

Here, in the lower part, around the Casa de les Papallones, you will see special nest boxes in the trees. These are bat boxes. Inside they find darkness and the small cavity they need to sleep during the day. At night, near streetlights, there are many moths and insects that provide them with food.
