Viewpoint towards Montbaig

Index card

Introduction

You are at the top of the Josep Lligades viewpoint, on land belonging to the Lligades family estate of Cal Sardà. In the past, cherry trees were grown here, followed later by carob trees used to feed livestock. A forest fire at the end of the 1970s left the land unused. In 2025 there was another fire, also on the side of the Sant Climent valley.

In the 1990s, maintenance and improvement works were carried out and, in addition to replanting pines, the viewpoint itself was built, along with a perimeter path intended to serve as a firebreak.

Enjoy the views and try to identify the surrounding landforms. On clear days it is possible to see the serra de Tramuntana in Mallorca.

The entire Montbaig mountain was also farmland, with vineyards and cherry trees, until the 1950s, when it began to be abandoned.
