Introduction

The first documentary reference dates from 1587, although it is believed to be an older farmhouse. It takes its name from the owners during the 17th and 18th centuries. The current building dates from that period, reconstructed after abandonment in the 15th century, a time of rural crisis and deserted farmhouses.

The plains surrounding the mas still reflect the agricultural landscape of the past. At that time, even the forest—much smaller than today—was cleared to obtain timber and fuel.

The holm oak forest was cut down to plant crops and vineyards, which disappeared around 1893 due to phylloxera. Later, the area was replanted with pines to improve forestry productivity.

Around farmhouses, ornamental trees were planted, such as the silver lime tree beside the path, named for the silvery underside of its leaves.

It can live for many years and reach heights of up to 30 m. Native to regions of Russia and Hungary, it is highly valued for its many medicinal properties.

Infusions made from its flowers are commonly used to relieve nervousness, anxiety and insomnia, and also for relaxing baths. It is also used to treat colds, coughs and asthma. Infusions of the bark are used for migraines and biliary liver disorders.
