Introduction
Above you, uphill to the right, lies the Roca Bruna area, where iron was already being extracted by the Iberians 2,000 years ago. These are ancient slate formations containing iron deposits. The Romans later exploited them, and even more so during the Middle Ages, when they became very important mines under the control of the lord of Eramprunyà.
In 1856, mining activity resumed, and the First World War gave it renewed importance. The family of Francesc Cambó purchased the most promising lands in Roca Bruna and founded the company Ferrominera Catalana to manage the exploitation.
If you climb the track about one hundred metres uphill, on the right a steep path leads to one of the ore hoppers.
Continue downhill to the left is the lower path; the upper one leads to Ca n’Amat.
