Introduction
The route linking Olot with Girona was fully operative between 1893 and 1969, becoming an important communication channel throughout its journey at a time when both industry and inhabitants of the towns grew.
Amer had a repair shop for wagons and railway machines, which impacted the town, but with the consolidation of the Girona-Olot road, the railway line went into a crisis and it had to close after more than 70 years.
Today it has become an element of sustainable tourism that brings visitors to the town.
