Introduction
The track linking Olot with Girona was in operation between 1893 and 1969, becoming an important communication channel throughout its journey, at the time when the industry and inhabitants of the two towns grew.
In Amer it installed a repair shop for railcars and machines, which positively affected the town, but the consolidation of the Girona-Olot vial axis by road took the railway line into crisis and closed after more than 70 years functioning.
Today it became an element of sustainable tourism that brings visitors to the town.
