Introduction
The rhododendron, also known as Núria boxwood, dominates the shrub layer of black pine forests, and we can find it between 1,500 and 2,500 meters in the Pyrenees. |
Very attractive when it is flowered, the rhododendron is moderately toxic, leading to diarrhea and vomiting. |
In popular medicine their leaves have been used to fight rheumatism and gout. Nowadays analgesic, astringent, diuretic and expectorant properties are attributed to it. |
This small shrub can live for more than 100 years. |
