Introduction
A stretch of the old Camí d’Empúries, also popularly known as the Camí de Torrecuques. This very old route connected Empúries to Girona, passing next to les Gavarres, the Baix Ter and Montgrí.
Some stretches, like the one you are currently following between Ullastret and Puig de Sant Andreu, are thought to have existed in the times of the Iberians and were used intensively up to the modern era.
These are especially well cared for stretches, paved and bounded by dry-stone walls, and have deep grooves left by cart wheels in some rocky stretches.
