Introduction

This mill was built in the seventeenth century by the Counts of Peralda, taking advantage of the Rec del Molí and a pre-existing fortified structure. The building has been declared a Cultural Asset of National Interest and preserves traces of the medieval fort, with walls made of large stone blocks and arrow slits and a machicolation, which could be related to the castle of Gualta.

The old water-powered grain mill was one of the most important in the region. From 1914, it functioned as a power station supplying 29 towns and villages. The mill and hydroelectric power station coexisted until their eventual closure in 1965.
