Introduction
The kermes oak shrub (Quercus coccifera) is the most abundant shrub formation in the Montgrí Mountains and in natural conditions would occupy most of these mountains, which are generally marked by fairly poor calcareous soils.
Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis-photo) and Brachypodium retusum are common in this garrigue, as are other low bushes like thyme, asparagus and common smilax.
