Introduction

Astragalus tragacantha

Few plants are well adapted to these soils which are poor, rocky and affected by inclement weather with strong winds.

The Marseille milkvetch stands out, a leguminous plant with lots of thorns which forms compact rounded cushions, an obvious adaptation to the strong tramuntana wind which blows in these areas.

This species is protected in the Cap de Creus Natural Park, and in Montgrí, the Medes Islands and the Baix Ter.
