You are now among garrigue with very sunny conditions, an ideal habitat for reptiles like the ocellated lizard (photo), the green whip snake in walls and the edges of woodland and the ladder snake in rocky places like where you are now.
The ocellated lizard is the largest lizard in Europe, measuring up to 70 cm in length. The juveniles are insectivores, while adults have an omnivorous diet based on other reptiles, such as small lizards, small birds and small mammals like shrews and mice. Its natural predators are the ladder snake and birds of prey.
