Introduction

Anacamptis pyramidalis

There are many and varied species of orchid in the natural park. Here we consider the pyramidal orchid (photo), probably one of the most extensive and easiest to see.

This plant is typical of calcareous soils and it flowers from mid-May to early-July.

It is interesting to note that a flour called salep, with medicinal properties, is extracted from its tubers.

Remember you are in a Natural Park and it is very important to respect the surroundings.
