Introduction
An important farmhouse in the Ullà area, which has for a very long time been located next to a track dating back to the Iberians and the Romans, which linked Empúries with the interior of the Empordanet and Girona.
Although the building is of earlier origins, its current appearance dates from rebuilding work in 1823, while the lintel with the date 1731 is from earlier alterations. The gallery on the south façade with round arches complemented by the line of windows on the top storey stands out, offering an attractive vignette. The sundial is also worth noting.
It is known in the world of literature as it belonged to the author Caterina Albert (Víctor Català) and her brother, and she is said to have written part of her most famous novel, Solitud, here inspired by the landscapes of the Montgrí Massif – especially, the hidden valley of Santa Caterina, with its hermitage, a spot which is just behind the Muntanya d’Ullà – and Montgrí Castle.
