Introduction

Fig trees are native American plants, from where they have spread to other parts of the planet. They have been grown to make fences, for their edible fruits and as low-maintenance ornamental plants. They are currently considered invasive plants because they are easily spread to the natural environment occupying the space of other native species. They reproduce vegetatively from fragments or by germination of their seeds, that birds that feed on their fruits spread.
