Introduction

On the sunny side, among the scattered cork trees, we find shrubs such as the cistus albidus (photo 1), a beautiful, white spring flower, the Spanish Lavender and the Mastic (Pistacia lentiscus ): a shrub with compound leaves, very common in this area, as well as the little-known narrow-leaved Mock Privet (photo 2).

The narrow-leaved Mock Privet is also known as Olive Shrub, it belongs to the olive family and could be confused with the olive tree, although its leaves and branches are less hard.

The fruits and leaves have astringent properties and are used to heal wounds. They are also a good mouth antiseptic. Its dense wood, which heats very well, is very much appreciated for making fires, especially by potters.

As soon as we reach the clearing, on the left we can admire the Ridaura valley, Santa Cristina and, closer to it, Castell d'Aro. In the background, the mountain silhouette of Collsacabra.
