Introduction

Bonelli's eagle (Hieraetus fasciatus) feeds on medium-sized mammals and sometimes reptiles and other daytime birds in areas of low vegetation, their favourite hunting ground.

It is a sedentary species in Cap de Creus, meaning that it resides here all year round.

It makes its nests on the slopes and occasionally in trees. One of its characteristics is that it strikes its prey as a falcon would. For a number of years there have been two breeding pairs, one on a coastal cliff and the other on an cliff in the interior.

The couples remain faithful to each other over the years.
