Introduction

The dominant vegetation in this part of the route, and on a large part of the intinerary, are shrubs. These are found in ancient fields or in areas that have been burnt or altered by man.

These vegetal communities, known as vegetation transitions, will become holm oak or cork oaks forests if man doesn’t intervene or if they don’t suffer wildfires. A series of shrubs predominate that require a lot of light, such as butcher's broom, rock roses and rosemary.

The birds that inhabit this terrain are the cretzschmar's bunting, the cirl bunting and the rock bunting.
