Introduction

We continue through the forest with a mix of pine trees and holm oaks. We are about to reach the top of Monticalvari. We now pass in front of an abandoned farmhouse, Vista Alegre.  A sign of the changing of the times and the inability of the forest people to adapt to the new economies (low profitability of cork, coal and pinecones). On the other hand, we see how the urbanisation of second homes has gradually increased. The abandoning of traditional activity, of the use of the land, gave rise to invasive species taking over the area. The ivy you can see everywhere right up to the farmhouse is called Japanese honeysuckle (Lonicera Japonica) and is an example of an invasive plant. At the end of the dirt track, turn RIGHT. Last uphill stretch to Monticalvari.
