Introduction
We follow the course of the Torrent del Castell to climb, but leave it following the GR83 signs and take the path on the right. Warning! This stretch is not suitable for bikes, but it is a lovely walk. If you prefer, you can continue along the Torrent path. Both lead to the same place: the wide track at the foot of Turó de Mata, or Turó d'Onofre Arnau.
To climb the hill, you can take the path on the right or the track on the left, which is closed with a chain. Either way, you will reach the tower of the old Can Triter farmhouse, now in ruins. This square tower dates from the 16th century and has often been mistaken for the vanished Castle of Mata. Remains of a Gothic window and loopholes for firearms can still be seen.
Take the path to the left of the tower and climb a little further to the top of the hill, 131 metres high.
