Introduction

We are at the foot of the “Turó del Mig” (550 m), in front of a single-footed oak forest. The specimens are tall, with a large harbor and the niches of which form a shady forest. The underbrush is clean, we could walk calmly up the hill. It is a mature forest, which for some decades has not been altered by humans and where the biological succession has been returning the natural plant species to this place.

The plant community corresponds to a Mountaineering Oak (Aplenio-Quercetum ilicis), a very rare habitat in the context of the Catalan coastal mountain range, as it is typical of higher mountains and interiors such as the Montseny or the Prades mountains. The “Parc del Montnegre” and the “Corredor” are located within the PEIN space.
