Introduction

The route through which this itinerary run has been naturally dug into the terroir, part of the granite that begins to break down. These formations, fenced in, are known as “fondos”, and are typical of the geography of the coastal mountain range in the Maresme

The “fondo” paths are roads excavated on the terrain, usually with a rectilinear path due to its origin, the surface runoff that looks for the straightest path to the bottom of the valley. The fondos were used by farmers, coalers, shepherds and other people who worked in the forest. They also served to get to the top of the ridge quickly and thus save distances to go for example to the Vallès.

They were also used as "discreet" transport routes, as they were hidden from the other roads.
