Introduction

About one hundred metres upstream along the riera, on your left-hand side, you will find a section of the old Rierot wall (18th–19th centuries), built to prevent flooding from the rieres. During the construction works of the Centre Comercial Vilamarina, the Rierot wall was relocated and rebuilt in its current position, next to the riera wall. From the wooden footbridge, it can be glimpsed behind a group of poplar trees.

We are in the area known as les Parellades, the most fertile lands closest to the urban centre, which explains why they were the first to be cultivated, as early as the 10th century. Part of this area has been transformed into the largest park in the municipality, featuring various facilities, more than 600 trees, and an aromatic plant garden.

An important drainage channel runs through the Parc Agrari and the municipality itself, collecting water from the eastern foothills of the Ordal-Garraf range: the riera de Sant Climent or riera de Viladecans. It is worth noting that until approximately the 16th century, the main road of the town followed the bed of the riera de Viladecans or Sant Climent, up to the Camí Ral de València or carrera Bovatera.

In the early 1990s, the riera was channelled from the C-31 road (Castelldefels motorway) to the sea, turning it into a canal that runs parallel to the Vidala branch, located within the Remolar-Filipines wetland area.
