Introduction

This path, bordering the fields of Can Roig and Ca n’Amat, now abandoned, is attractive to the most abundant mammal of recent decades: the wild boar. If you look carefully, you will find signs of their presence: disturbed soil, muddy puddles, footprints and tree trunks smeared with mud.

Here, near the riera and the fields, food is easier to find than in the forest. The forest is their refuge, while these ruderal mountain environments are their pantry. Recently, they have even become accustomed to foraging in rubbish containers near houses.

Although they love acorns, wild boars are omnivorous and opportunistic animals, feeding on almost anything they find while rooting with their snout.

Their great adaptability has led to a dramatic increase in their populations due to the lack of natural predators. This, combined with a mild climate and easy access to food, allows them to breed twice a year.
