SCHISTS

Index card

Introduction

The rock formations that we have to our right correspond to schistos of the "Jujols" formation.
The mining activity in the Freser valleys in a recent past is well known and many of the materials exploited in these mines, such as iron oxides and carbonates (iron-making), estibina (obtaining antimony) and Arsenopyrite (obtaining gold, cobalt and nickel) appear in the area as joints fit into these schistos that we can observe.
The schistos originate from clays or slits, which once exposed to moderate temperatures and pressures are transformed into the material that we are currently observing.
