Camí Fondo Oak

Introduction

The scenery of this Camí Fondo could be described as monotonous: lines of apple trees one after the other, flat land… Nonetheless, here and there you will see all sorts of interesting elements, like the solitary centuries-old oak which is surprisingly here, next to the track and offering spectacular shade.

It is a downy oak and nobody knows if it grew here spontaneously or was planted who knows when or by whom. The thing is that, left to grow, the oak minds its own business, providing abundant firewood, acorns and shade, resources which were highly valued by people living in the country in days gone by. It could also have some ancient symbolism or mark a boundary edge, or it could just be the result of chance. We have not been able to find out anything else about it. But here it is, standing alone, exposed without regards to the weather, but healthy and strong as an oak (never better said!).
