Introduction

La Senya Blanca or Casa Ensesa

In the summer of 1923, Josep Ensesa, owner of the lands of Senya Blanca, entrusted the architect Rafael Masó the construction of the family summer house, the first villa in the new urbanization of S'Agaró. In addition to the house, the “loggia”, travertine, and the pool dressing rooms, with neoclassical inspiration stand out, behind the Camí de Ronda passes by. The name of the property, Senya Blanca, responds to the fact that, before urbanizing, there were old constructions, now demolished, painted in white, which the fishermen of the area used as a reference. At that time, without the instruments of current geographic positioning, seafarers were geared towards the coast with the help of orographic accidents that were well visible from the sea.

From 1956 to 1979, the gardens of Senya Blanca held the S’Agaró Musical Festivals, where artists such as Victoria de los Àngels, Teresa Berganza and Montserrat Caballé (among others) performed their concerts and recitals. Now, the Musical Festival is held in the church of Nostra Senyora de l’Esperança.
