Introduction
The Cap de Creus peninsula is made up of rocks from a mountain range that was formed 400 million years ago. The materials that form Cap de Creus originate in a sedimentary basin that was affected by a regional metamorphism and orogenic movement.
We find ourselves next to the Punta de la Ferrera and just in front of the Cap de Norfeu, examples of the capricious forms that make up the coast of the Cap de Creus.
We would stress the importance of the integral nature reserve, terrestrial and marine, of the Cap de Norfeu, one of the most beautiful places on the Catalan coast and a place for which whales and dolphins seem to feel a special fondness.
At the highest point of Cap Norfeu there are the remains of a watchtower, known as the Torre de Norfeu. It was built around 1604, as part of the defensive system on the Gulf of Roses against pirates.
