Introduction
We can see Cala Montjoi before us. In the rocks of the Puig Ródo (right) there is a refuge and the remains of others, used by the shepherds in the middle of the 20th century.
In these hills and higher sections above the vineyard terraces, were the pasture lands where there were grazing pens and herds. The Pla de les Gates, following the track (1000 m) to the Tomb of the General, offers a good example.
These open spaces are a good spot to observe birds, feeding among the grass and occasionally going into the nearby bushes. In winter there are large flocks that flutter around.
We will find the goldfinch, the thekla lark, the whinchat, the common linnet, the partridge and the beautiful ortolan bunting (photo), among others. Looking up at the sky we can see the protected Bonelli's eagle or the peregrine falcon flying above. On the nearby rocks of Puig Rodó live the blue rock thrush, the crow and the swift.
By the way, if you do not find any megalithic remains, don’t worry, neither did we.
